Located in the mountain valleys of Palawan, Maia Earth Village is a living experiment in sustainability, where humans, animals, plants, and elements share equal ground. Here, solar energy and rainwater sustain daily life, while forests, rivers, and fertile soil shape the rhythm of community.
Guided by permaculture and Indigenous ecological knowledge, Maia is not just a place to stay, it’s a training ground for resilience, a sanctuary for natural building, regenerative farming, and healing practices.
In this setting of quiet abundance and raw nature, you’ll be held by a community that lives simply, close to the Earth, and open to transformation.

Loud Summer is an invitation to create a next season in Earth’s history characterized by that it’s full of Life in all its forms; nature, love, creativity and spirit.
It was founded by Rebecka Carlsson, with support of Yannick Porter and others, in the Summer of 2024, and is currently developing as a research project and residencies for sustainability leaders.
In 1962, Rachel Carson published Silent Spring. In this “fable for tomorrow,” she describes – as scientifically as poetically – how pesticides like DDT first cause the insects to die, then the birds and fish to die, then larger mammals and humans too, and the very Spring to turn silent.
The book is often regarded as the “starting point of the modern environmental movement,” – that opened humanity’s eyes to the fact that our impact on Life on Earth is no longer peripheral, but profound. And John F. Kennedy even launched the inquiry that would lead to the founding of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a direct response. Carson herself, however, got intensely sued and anti-campaigned by the chemicals lobby, while heroically fighting her final battle with breast cancer – working day and night to be able to spread the message before her death, just under two years after it’s publication.
If a Silent Spring is an ultimate description of what de don’t want – essentially a tipping, or tilting, towards more death on Earth – then what we could instead co-create is a Loud Summer: a next season in Earth’s history, characterized by that it’s full and rich with Life in all its forms; nature, love, creativity, and spirit.
Until now, the Loud Summer project has emerged as a research project, and an invitation to Study Life, and how we can work with Life’s processes.
It studies these four areas:
1. Life
– How does Life work?
– What is constructive and destructive to Life?2. Humanity
– How does Humanity work?
– In what ways is Humanity similar to – and unique from – the rest of Life?
– How can Humanity work with Life’s processes to realize more of our full inherent potentiality?
– How can Humanity contribute to more Life – nature, love, creativity, and spirit – than if we weren’t here?
Comment: It’s paradoxical that, on the one hand, we now speak more than ever as if we were above the rest of Life, and at the same time as if the best we could do is to cause less harm. But what if Humanity could find its new, constructive role in the Web of Life – where we contribute with our uniquely human qualities, while allowing the rest of Life to realize its full inherent potentiality? Can we even imagine what it would be like to live in such a world?3. Realization (Macro)
– What are the key shifts (on a macro level) that would make a Loud Summer to become reality? From what – to what?4. Contribution (Micro)
– How can I and the constellations I am part of contribute to such a realization?– What does it mean for me to live a meaningful and rich life – to realize my full inherent potentiality – as a Part of the Whole?
– How can I collaborate with, and be empowered and nourished by the rest of Life, while carrying out my “Labor of Love”?
